Kota Kinabalu is the state capital of Sabah, a state in East Malaysia. It was formerly known as Jesselton. It is also often referred as KK both locally and internationally. This city is a major destination and a gateway for visitors visiting Sabah and East Malaysia. Apart from tourism, it is also one of the major industrial and commercial centers of East Malaysia. Kota Kinabalu is also where Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia and Borneo is situated.
